In this guide, we try to help you on your way with tuning your RB25 engine. The engine is easy to get extra hp. out of - Without the big money wallet has to come out of the pocket. Note that cars equipped with Tiptronic gearbox must be made in a different way as the gearbox cannot handle the extra power.
Many people want to know if they have all the parts they need to put a new turbo on their car. If in doubt, you can do the following:
Before you start, it's a really good idea to know how many hp you want. you want. As you or may end up buying parts that are not relevant to your upgrade. A good place to start is at 300, 350 and 450 hp. - It is 3 steps with easy upgrade options. Anything over 500 hp. requires a major rebuild and other parts.
RB25DE - NON-TURBO twin-cam 180 - 200 hp @ 6000 rpm
RB25DET - twin-cam TURBO (T3 Turbo) 245-250 hp
The NEO cylinder head fitted from 1998 gave better emmension, it also has mechanical lifters and a different camshaft profile.
RB25DE NEO- NON-TURBO twin-cam 219 hp @ 6000 rpm RB25DET NEO - twin-cam TURBO 276 hp @ 6400 rpm
Standard boost pressure is 0.5 bar up to 4500 rpm. From here 0.7 to 7000 rpm. This provides better fuel economy. The first thing you often want to do is to make it run with 0.7 bar boost pressure from the very bottom. You do this by attaching the black wire to the charge pressure valve to the frame. If you want a little more boost pressure, you can fit a boost controller, manual or electronic. Here you can safely drive with 0.85 bar boost pressure. Here, 3" downpipe without catalyst, large front mounted intercooler, high flow air filter, Z32 MAF and a pair of new spark plugs will provide safety and extra power.
The cylinder head on an R33 (not the turbo model) is slightly different, here there is no water and oil connection to the turbocharger.
If you drive with more than 0.9 bar boost pressure, the standard ceramic turbochargers will break prematurely.
Oil cooling may be necessary as the engine may otherwise overheat.
Oil shortage in high speed cornering. Here the engine may lack oil as the oil is forced to the side, here it may be an idea to pour approx. ½ liter extra oil on the engine.
300+ requires a new engine management
320-340 hp. the turbocharger, head gasket (1.2 bar charge pressure), clutch, air mass meter and nozzles must be upgraded.
340+ Will an aluminum cooler be really good if you push the car extra hard
500+ Forged pistons, H-profile connecting rods, reinforced head gasket, ARP bolts, cylinder head porting.
If you want an easy, fast and efficient upgrade, you can choose to install 2 new and larger turbochargers. You can do this and get min. 550 hp. out of it. The turbochargers are cheap but at the same time really good. It is still recommended to fit a larger exhaust, intake, etc., etc.

When you have control of your engine's internal structure or do not want to exceed the above in the first place, it is time to install a larger turbocharger. Below we have a good setup for the parts to be used on the exhaust side. You should expect spoolup to be around 4000 rpm with a T70 turbocharger. If we do not have the parts in stock, you're welcome to contact us, and we will find a solution.
RB20DET / RB25DET turbo manifold - Manifold in very high quality and good thickness.

With a new intake manifold, you not only get a nice engine compartment - also more power. Most of our manifolds are made with funnels inside the manifold which increases the flow extra. Everything you need for installation is included, such as radiator hoses, gas damper and new nozzle bridge. It is recommended to drive with 668cc. nozzles for about 550 hp. and 875cc. nozzles if you are going for around 750hp. With the new intake, nozzles with 13.5 mm must be installed. o-rings - Standard Bosch measurements and the nozzles we link to.

EV1 connector - Connector for mounting overhead nozzles, the connectors are very easily changed if you have pliers that can squeeze the connector legs.
Extra good cooling of the engine is really important when you are tuning your car - especially if you push the car a lot. We have, for example, aluminum coolers which are for direct installation and which provide incredibly good cooling. A large intercooler is also very important when extra charge pressure and flow must pass through the system.

You can get many plug and play exhaust systems for many car brands. But maybe you are building an engine that has a few more horsepower than what a PNP exhaust system can handle. Here we can help with specially built exhaust or parts for you to build yourself. We recommend 3" up to 500-600hp and 3.5" above that.

Often, an original petrol system cannot keep up when a turbo is installed, where both more air and petrol must enter the engine. Here you can often simply fit a new pump if it is up to around 500-700 hp. However, it is recommended that you get over 500hp. you must check the entire system for "plugs" - This could be, for example, the fuel filter, nozzle bridge, fuel hoses and connections (plugs). We have everything you need to upgrade your petrol system - E.g. there are many who install a surge tank, where there are either 1 or 2 petrol pumps in - This gives the possibility of up to 2000 hp. without boost pressure and 1600 hp. with charge pressure. Here, for example, AEM 1000 hp must be used. petrol pumps and surge tank with 2 internal petrol pumps.

As you can read in this guide (top), the engine needs an upgrade of engine parts if it is to be able to handle power over 500hp. And you achieve that very quickly with such an engine.
