Flywheel, Racer Clutch, and sports clutch

Below you will find a selection of the clutches we sell. We can get race clutches to nearly all car brands and models. You're guaranteed to get a clutch of the highest quality when you buy at Qualitec.eu. You can choose between organic or sintered-metal clutches, where the organic is a bit softer and gentle, but the sintered-metal clutch is more efficient.

If you're unable to find the model your looking for, feel free to contact us for help.

The flywheel and clutch have, among other functions, the role of transferring the engine's power from the crankshaft/flywheel to the clutch plate, which is the connection to the gearbox via the high-speed shaft. On the flywheel, there is a starter ring with "teeth" that the starter motor engages with when the starter motor is activated. The flywheel also dissipates a certain amount of heat during engagement and disengagement. For example, if you are driving under load, a lot of heat needs to be dissipated. The heavier the flywheel, the more stable the engine runs at idle and the easier it is to get the engine moving. However, if you install a lightweight flywheel in the engine, it may be harder to start the car since there is no mass to keep the engine's revolutions stable. However, you will get more revving ability and more power because the engine does not need to drag the flywheel up to speed.

The clutch plate is the part connected to the gearbox through the high-speed shaft. It is clamped tightly between the flywheel and the pressure plate. The pressure plate is activated by the clutch pedal. When the pedal is pressed, it releases the pressure and allows the clutch plate to disengage from the flywheel and pressure plate. This results in disengagement, and you either stay stationary or can change gears.

A sports/race clutch plate may be coated with organic material, mixed with sintered metal, or made entirely of sintered metal. Pure sintered metal results in a hard connection (ON/OFF), but it can handle more power.

The power that can be transmitted through the system is a combination of the clutch disc's diameter, the pressure from the pressure plate, and the type of material used for the coating.

What causes a clutch to slip is the torque being applied from the engine. Torque is a term that refers to how much the engine twists or pushes. There are differences in how much torque an original clutch can handle—some can handle very little, while others can manage significant power increases. Ask others who have tuned your specific engine type.

A multi-plate clutch is also an option, but these are more costly.
